Security Alert for Yom Kippur - Israel, Palestinian Territories

On 24-25 September, Yom Kippur will be observed across Israel as a national public holiday. Operations at all government offices, public transportation hubs, restaurants, tourist attractions and other essential/non-essential services will remain suspended. The Ben Gurion International Airport will also be closed from 14:00 hours (local time) on 24 September to 22:30 hours on 25 September.

Authorities also issued a high security alert throughout the country due to bomb and other terror threats. Locals were urged to carry guns and other weapons for their personal safety. Elaborate security arrangements will be made at all prayer and entertainment venues. Communal clashes may be expected.

Borders with West Bank and the Gaza Strip may be closed.
