COVID-19 Precautionary Measures in Dominica (23 November Update)

Can a resident enter the country?

  • Yes

  • Citizens and residents can enter.

Can a foreigner enter the country?

  • Yes

  • Borders are open. The Douglas Charles Airport and the Canefield Airport have reopened for foreign nationals arriving in Dominica.

Is a test required on arrival?

  • Yes

  • All incoming passengers must have a Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) conducted upon arrival. Children under the age of 5 will be exempted from testing on arrival unless anyone of their family tests positive. Kids travelling unaccompanied will also be tested for COVID19 upon arrival. Results will be provided within 20 - 30 minutes.

Is a test certificate allowed?

  • A COVID-19 test certificate issued by another country is allowed.

Test certificate required?

  • Yes

  • Arriving passengers must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate performed 24-72 hours prior to arrival.

Is quarantine required on arrival?

  • Yes with exceptions

  • Travellers arriving from low-risk countries:

  • Travellers will be monitored for 7 days and may be subject to scheduled and unscheduled checks by medical professionals.

  • Travellers arriving from medium-risk countries:

  • Travellers will be monitored for 14 days at a hotel or place of residence, or travellers can choose to take a PCR test on day 5. With a negative test result, no further monitoring is needed;

  • During monitoring, travellers may be subject to scheduled and unscheduled checks by medical professionals.

  • Travellers arriving from high-risk countries:

  • Travellers will stay in a government-approved facility or a COVID-19 Certified Property at their own expense while waiting for the test results. If the test results are negative, the traveller will be transferred to a government-operated quarantine facility for a mandatory quarantine of at least 5 days;

  • On day 5, a PCR test will be done. If the test result is positive, the traveller will be admitted to the COVID Isolation Unit until released. The hospital fees are at the traveller’s expense. If the test result on day 5 is negative, the traveller is medically cleared.

  • Travellers from the CARICOM Bubble will not be required to quarantine if their Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) conducted upon arrival is negative.

  • Yes

  • Travellers arriving from countries that are part of the CARICOM travel bubble must submit the health questionnaire online at least 24 hours before arrival.

  • Arriving passengers must submit the online health questionnaire online at domcovid19.dominica.gov.dm at least 24 hours before arrival and must upload a negative COVID-19 PCR test result performed 24-72 hours prior to arrival.

Airline Restrictions

Social Distancing Restrictions

  • Maintaining a distance of 6 feet from others is recommended.

  • Events, public gatherings, church, and worship services are allowed but restricted to a maximum of 250 people.

Transportation

  • Minimal

  • Public transportation services are operating, including buses, metro trains, and cable cars. A face mask is required at all times on public transport.

  • There are private taxis and car rentals available at the Douglas Charles and Canefield Airports. Car rental should be arranged ahead of time.

  • Yes

  • Bars are open.

Beaches and tourism sites open?

  • Yes

  • Beaches and most tourism sites are open to the public. Some sites are temporarily closed for maintenance and rehabilitation works such as Emerald Pool, Trafalgar Falls, Middleham Falls, Cabrits National Park, and segments 8, 11, 13 of the Waitukubuli National Trail.

  • All land-based and water-based activities are open to tourists.

Personal care services open?

  • Personal care services, such as beauty salons and barber shops, are operating.

  • Events and public gatherings are allowed but are restricted to a maximum of 250 people.
