De hoofdstad is <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/2aoCYrSqfeSUSkFP8\">Beiroet<\/a>en bestaat uit een klein geografisch gebied. Libanon wordt momenteel geconfronteerd met een crisis in de overheidssector als gevolg van toenemende stakingen, operationele ineffici\u00ebntie, economische neergang en politieke overbodigheid.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wat heeft tot de huidige situatie geleid?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Aangezien de waarde van het Libanese pond blijft dalen, is het gemiddelde maandloon van de ambtenaar gedaald van ongeveer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/public-sector-paralysed-lebanon-lurches-towards-failed-state-2022-08-18\/\">$1.000 tot nauwelijks $50<\/a> - en aan het tellen.<\/li><li>De afgelopen twee maanden hebben duizenden ambtenaren in Libanon dan ook gestaakt om te protesteren tegen de inkomensdaling als gevolg van deze economische ineenstorting - een van de ergste in de moderne geschiedenis. Onlangs hebben 350 Libanese rechters een week lang niet gestaakt om een loonsverhoging te eisen. Ongeveer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/public-sector-paralysed-lebanon-lurches-towards-failed-state-2022-08-18\/\">zes op de tien<\/a> werknemers van de staat ofwel bezig zijn of plannen hebben om het land te verlaten.<\/li><li>De staatsinfrastructuur staat op instorten door jarenlange ongebreidelde uitgaven, corruptie en een voorkeur voor kortetermijnverbeteringen boven langetermijnverbeteringen. De staatsinkomsten zijn ook gekelderd tot een gevaarlijk laag niveau doordat de belastinginning twee maanden lang werd uitgesteld toen belastingambtenaren staakten.<\/li><li>De energiecrisis heeft zijn tol ge\u00ebist in het dagelijkse openbare leven. In het Parlement geven bewakers berichten door via de trap, omdat er niet genoeg benzine is om de generator van de lift aan te drijven.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\"<em>We staan op instorten\"<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/public-sector-paralysed-lebanon-lurches-towards-failed-state-2022-08-18\/\">zei<\/a> Lamia Moubayed - <a href=\"http:\/\/www.institutdesfinances.gov.lb\/\">Libanees Instituut voor Financi\u00ebn Basil Fuleihan<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Is het veilig om naar Libanon te reizen?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Het is momenteel <strong>NIET<\/strong> veilig is om naar Libanon te reizen. De ontevredenheid onder de bevolking neemt toe, wat kan leiden tot geweld tussen demonstranten en rechtshandhavingsinstanties. Verdere verstoringen van essenti\u00eble openbare diensten zijn waarschijnlijk. Door aanhoudende stakingen van ambtenaren zijn banken, overheidskantoren en andere overheidsdiensten in Libanon lamgelegd.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Beoordeling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Vermijd alle protesten en stakingen, want zelfs vreedzame kunnen snel gewelddadig worden. Vermijd reizen in de buurt van protestlocaties en plan alternatieve routes. Zorg voor toegang tot adequaat onderdak en essenti\u00eble diensten (zoals energie) om verstoringen en veiligheidsrisico's tot een minimum te beperken. Vermijd hotels en particuliere accommodaties die kwetsbaar zijn voor schade tijdens protestgeweld. Houd het lokale nieuws in de gaten voordat u op reis gaat, aangezien er bij populaire toeristische attracties in Libanon een groot veiligheidsrisico kan bestaan.\u00a0<\/li><li>Wees extra voorzichtig bij het bezoeken van openbare plaatsen. Er is onlangs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2022\/8\/11\/armed-man-holds-beirut-bank-staff-hostage-demands-savings\">een gijzelingssituatie<\/a> bij een federale bank in Beiroet.<\/li><li>Bedrijven kunnen te maken krijgen met toenemende verstoringen door ontevreden werknemers en daaruit voortvloeiende stakingen.
